About Janet Greenip

A resident of Crofton since 1971, Janet Greenip is proud to serve Legislative District 33 in the General Assembly. She has served two terms in the House of Delegates and she is now in her second term as Senator, having become the first woman elected to the Maryland State Senate from Anne Arundel County in 2002.

A native of Cincinnati, Janet holds a B.S. in Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and was a junior high school math teacher before she became involved in politics. She held leadership positions in a number of GOP organizations, including founder and first President of the Greater Crofton (Maryland) Republican Women (1977-80 and 1985-89); and President of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women (1990-92). She has been honored as Woman of the Year by the Republican Women of Anne Arundel County, and Hero of the Taxpayer by the Maryland Taxpayers Association.

Janet is an avid sailor, along with her husband, Gary. She is the mother of two grown sons and the proud grandmother of Holly and Megan Greenip.
